Time seems to be speeding by with almost three weeks of ministry behind us. It brought a smile to my face hearing Sal preach on Sunday. For over 20 years, Sunday was the highlight of his week. Nothing brought him greater joy than to preach. He gave a valuable message from Luke 5 on Discipleship. Many note takers were in the crowd.

Sunday Morning Pulpit

Monday’s women’s conference was special. I was able to reunite with dear sisters in Christ who faithfully attend each year and met some new ones. I am thrilled at the number of young women who come to these conferences. Many of them have small children that they bring along. There is no childcare or nurseries provided, but somehow the children are very behaved and cause very little distraction.

Women’s’ Conference

Many Young Women Attend

On Tuesday we travelled back to home-base but not before Sal taught on Heaven based on the final chapters of Revelation. After three hours of teaching, the floor was opened for questions which continued for another hour. I was concerned that it would be too much for Sal, but he was having the time of his life.

It’s amusing how the culture here views senior citizens in a different way than we do in the USA. It never fails, but at every conference, we are introduced with a mention of our ages. Pastors here typically retire at the age of 60. Though it is humbling to have our ages pointed out, it is also an encouragement for them to continue on with life and ministry.  Erwin Lutzer says the good thing about old age is it doesn’t last long. Sal and I are not retired. We are refired! If that’s the case, then why not use whatever time we have left to serve the Lord and not waste a minute?
