We are all familiar with the old adage, “It’s not what you know, but who you know.” This week we were informed by email that our trip back to the USA was cancelled. The conflict in the Middle East has literally affected all travel through that region. We were assured by the airline that they were working on accommodating all stranded travelers to the best of their ability. We were offered the choice of a refund or reschedule. We decided to take the reschedule. So for the next four days we repeatedly attempted to book a new flight. Their website was not operating well due to the traffic. The customer service number had a wait time of eternity. The APP was useless. As the days went by, we began to face the realization that we may have to extend our stay.

What we knew about rescheduling our trip was basically nothing. But who we knew was everything. We asked God for help. We asked for His guidance and wisdom. We asked for prayer. On day four of our failed attempts to rebook, we asked Viju’s son if he would go to the airline office and inquire about how we could schedule a new flight. Shibu felt led to inquire through his place of employment as to what their status is with the airline. Within minutes, he was connected to an airline service representative and was given several options of available flights that would get us to the USA. A few hours after that, tickets were issued and delivered to my inbox. We are grateful to Shibu for his help but we give God the glory for directing him to the right help.

The adage is true . . . it’s not what we know but WHO we know. Bible knowledge is important but it must be anchored to a personal relationship with the Lord, Jesus Christ. We could sense the favor of God wrap around us as the plan to return home unfolded. Having “favor in the eyes of the Lord” is often the determining factor for how the plan unfolds. He is the WHO that drives the what!

This Sunday we will pack our belongings and leave our little place in the jungle. We are heading to the busy, noisy city for three more conferences. And then on Good Friday we will be heading back home to our family and friends. Please pray that our final week of ministry will be a blessing.
