Our home looks like a warehouse. And today is the day we must take inventory. The moving company requires that we record every piece of furniture, every small, medium and large box that we have packed. We have sold, donated and given away so much and yet I have 150 boxes.
I can see the value in providing the movers with an inventory list. It will help them to know how much room they need on the truck and how long it will take to load. It also gives them a close estimate of how much it weighs and what the moving fees will be.
I am reminded of how important it is to take spiritual inventory from time to time. It is so easy to pack up life into boxes and never give much thought about what’s inside.
Is my faith box solid? Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! 2 Corinthians 13:5
Is my heart box neat and clean? Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Psalms 139:23
Is my prayer box full? With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people. Ephesians 6:18
Is my blessing box overflowing ? Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith. Galatians 6:9-10
